In this day and age, surveillance and repression feel almost inevitable. While organizing to provide material support for those who are captured by the state is crucial work (court support, letter writing, putting money on people’s books, etc), we also believe that our communities must not just mitigate the harms of carceral violence, but work to entirely abolish it altogether. By any means necessary. The priority can never be to just soften the next blow, otherwise they will never stop coming one after another.
The Portland Anti-Repression Committee is an autonomous collective that seeks to organize on the offensive against every form of repression faced by our comrades.
What does this work look like?
In short, we study and learn from the cases our comrades are fighting in court, disincentivize any and all forms of cooperation with the police state, organize to create popular support for our comrades and the tactics they utilize, and we work to ensure that no person is ever lost within the walls of a prison. Our work is incredibly multifaceted.
